Adventures in Knitting

I've always wanted to learn to knit and even bought a book of baby knits for beginners by Debbie Bliss (click here to see the book) when I was pregnant with Poppy.  However as with many of my brilliant ideas Poppy reached her third birthday with me doing no more than drool over the book and fantasise about the kind of mother I could be, if only I wasn't so idle. So this week I decided enough is enough, I will learn to knit. I started with the hat opposite (from the afore mentioned book).   Unfortunately, because I only own one set of needles (the wrong size) my hat ended up big enough to fit me - where the pattern suggested it was for a 9-12 month old baby. Never mind! I am enormously proud of myself and my hat and for having finally used some of the weird itchy wool I bought for a project during my art foundation year. Ollie has already requested a blue hat and a knitted monkey so I may be busy for sometime.
