chilling with the tripod

My New Toy

I got this tripod last weekend from America and I love it! This weekend we camped at our little smallholding - supposedly so we can get more done but it was so hot nothing at all got done except stressing about the weeding and watering.

Playhouse Update

The "clubhouse" is getting closer to completion. With windows and walls, and a reed thatched roof its a fun place for everyone to play, and be out of the sun and or wind and rain. The exterior walls are clad with offcuts of planks as are the internal walls.

Will post more pics soon!

Introducing Emily

Emily is my new office. she is based at The Orchard and is proving a fabulous place to work from. With a great view of the The Orchard and the children and dog running around its not difficult to get distracted. She is painted outside with Farrow & Ball oil eggshell in 3 uber yummy colours, and inside with various kitchen and bathroom paints. I'm looking to upgrade her work surfaces at some point in the future to complement her Cath Kidston shabby chic upholstery. With two double beds we are hoping to take some time out and get out and enjoy some low hassle long weekends.

Building a playhouse

We are building the children a play house at The Orchard, where we have our mini small-holding venture. Having collected many many pallets we decided to put them to use as a play house that will hopefully keep the children amused whilst Daddy and I dig more veg beds. I thought I'd let you see the work in progress. This is with the floor down and the walls going up. Keep logging on to catch up on progress.

Attempts towards self-sufficiency

Leo (my husband) the children and I are making attempts towards self-sufficiency, in vegetables at least. We have access to a small area of land which we have been preparing for our first season of vegetable growing. So far we have been rotavating and planting potatoes as well as starting of mangetout, french and runner beans and tomato plants on the windowsills at home. I'll keep you informed of our progress which will be a huge learning curve - any tips gratefully received!

Digger

This is Digger another new addition to the household. He is a 10 week old English Springer Spaniel puppy. Digger is utterly bonkers but seriously scrummy and fitting in really well already! He's already had a bath and a sleep in our fab plastic buckets.

Chicken Out

Chicken Out

I hope everyone had a fab new year and Christmas. All go here as ever. Lots of family round and Ollie was four this weekend so all very exciting. I'm quite into my organic living and think a lot of you are too so here is a link to the River Cottage - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall - Chicken Out campaign website. If you believe in what they stand for ( an end to intensive farmed chicken) then sign up. http://www.chickenout.tv/

big bag

Last one.

Just to keep you updated about how stock levels are doing in the lead up to Christmas. We are all out of our glass sugar bowls, but still have some cake stands in both sizes left.

I only have one of our lovely big bags left. I really love these and think they're great for shopping and laundry and transporting toys and presents around over the festive period. So anyway enough blathering, go shop!
