Spring is definately in the air as the hens have started laying again. We get gorgeous blue/green eggs from our two bluebells (one pictured here), and a variety of soft creams and browns from the various mixed breed hens. They do look lovely together in a box but the colour of the yolks is something I never get tired of.

You need to login or register to post commentsI made this slightly over the top chocolate rice crispie cake pyramid for a friends party recently. I was intending to just make your usual 'run of the mill' in a paper case jobs but got a bit carried away, the graphic designer in me taking over.
Read the rest of this postOk, this one is a triumph I think. Admittedly its just 4 squares or variations of but it is the first piece of clothing I've ever made. I am very proud although credit must go to Debbie Bliss for her easy to follow pattern and scrumptious yarns.
You need to login or register to post commentsI've been working on a christmas card for Meg Rivers and using the children as models again. Yes there was icing sugar everywhere, all over the camera, in the monkeys hair, up my nose, etc etc. Great fun and better still that it wasn't my kitchen.
You need to login or register to post commentsOllie (5) has just started taking an obsessive interest in photography. So much so that I had to hide the little digital camera to save on batteries. He has spent a happy weekend photographing everything we do and rises to the challenge of mini photography projects. I need to get imaginative as 'something red from every room' and 'line patterns' don't seem to hold his attention for more than 10 mins. But its great he loves it and isn't afraid to take photos of the inside of his own nose. This is ollies shot of me taking a shot of him when we should have been cooking.
Read the rest of this postIts been a cold few days and weeks and I've needed little excuse to get the oven on and warm the kitchen up.
Read the rest of this postI've always wanted to learn to knit and even bought a book of baby knits for beginners by Debbie Bliss (click here to see the book) when I was pregnant with Poppy. However as with many of my brilliant ideas Poppy reached her third birthday with me doing no more than drool over the book and fantasise about the kind of mother I could be, if only I wasn't so idle. So this week I decided enough is enough, I will learn to knit. I started with the hat opposite (from the afore mentioned book).

I got this tripod last weekend from America and I love it! This weekend we camped at our little smallholding - supposedly so we can get more done but it was so hot nothing at all got done except stressing about the weeding and watering.
Anyway it really was the business. We had a fire going all day, for the inevitable cups of tea. It comes with a suspended grill tray which is great for burgers, sausages or kebabs and then a chain you can hang a kettle from. You heat water in a bowl ontop (I've got a fab enamel one) which is just the right temperature for washing up when all the food is gone!
The "clubhouse" is getting closer to completion. With windows and walls, and a reed thatched roof its a fun place for everyone to play, and be out of the sun and or wind and rain. The exterior walls are clad with offcuts of planks as are the internal walls.
Will post more pics soon!
